Location. Location. Location.
What would a real estate event be without using that saying at least once?
If you couldn't tell by the title, this post is about location. The URECC team is excited to announce, that for the third year in a row, the competition will be held at Deloitte's state-of-the-art headquarters in downtown Toronto! Which you can check out by clicking here, however, the only true way is to experience this space is to come see it for yourself!
If you haven't attended the competition in the past and that photo has you wanting more, have a look at some of our photos from previous competitions to see more of what this incredible venue has to offer. After you pick your jaw up off the floor, we encourage you to gather a team and prepare for registration, which will be opening in the coming weeks.
We will talk more on how to attend later, for now here is a bit of what Deloitte has to say about their headquarters. "Located on the corner of Yonge and Adelaide, Deloitte’s Bay Adelaide East office includes 18 different types of workspaces to allow employees to match their work environment to the task at hand. The office unites more than 4,000 employees previously housed at seven different locations across the GTA. The building’s six-floor open staircase serves as a visual reminder that the firm encourages social interaction and collaboration, rather than stresses hierarchy and tenure – an unorthodox approach for professional services. Deloitte’s new space also has dedicated areas for client use, and a wellness centre focused on physical and mental wellbeing. The interior design celebrates Canadiana through materials such as natural wood and in the furniture and art selection, underscoring the firm’s 158-year history and commitment to the country." If you're still curious, you can read more here.
Deloitte’s headquarters is truly a remarkable example of the collaboration between form and function. As part of their strategy and vision of working, which was first unveiled in 2012, Deloitte has conducted lots of research into how people work. One surprising discovery Deloitte found was that employees were 18% more productive when they had access to natural light, in addition to the obvious physical and emotional effects. Innovative designs based on discoveries like this are sewn into the fabric of the building, and part of what makes it such a special place to host the competition. So what are you waiting for? This building is built for success, are you?
Finally, let's talk about the really important stuff - how to attend. In the coming weeks, registration will open, be sure to watch for the announcement. During registration, we welcome teams of 5 or less to register each member individually through the homepage of our website. Again, each team member must register individually, we will ask for your team name so don't worry, you won't be separated from your team members. We look forward to seeing you in the spring!
